macsformeif we were to have some kind of standardized performance benchmark, so we can get a better idea of the impact of changes to our graphics system, does anyone have ideas of where to start with that?22:49
macsformemy first thought would be to just take a section of a replay file with lots of players, like maybe 30 seconds of it, and then do some pre-defined camera movements22:51
macsformethan tally up total frames, and calculate average framerate, over the duration of the benchmark to get a sort of standardized score22:52
ZehraHmmm, I'm not quite certain, but perhaps using some set of maps and shot generation to function as a benchmark?22:55
blast007the "pre-defined camera movements" could just be following the leader22:55
macsformemoriah could probably point us to an event with high player counts that we might have a replay file for... otherwise, I know we have plenty of Riker 10vs10 matches22:55
blast007the main thing is that the 2.4 replays won't work with 2.522:55
macsformeblast007: true... I was just thinking a little bit of variation, alternating between driving with, following, and roaming, might be a little more visually appealing22:56
macsformeyeah, we might not want to store the benchmark data in replay format, unless we can readily convert it... maybe store it in some other format22:57
macsformewhat other games have a built-in benchmark we could look at for ideas? I think one of the recent tomb raider titles does...22:59
