TimRikermaking good progress on bzo. Should I check it into the bzflag github? Not sure how far I want to take it. I can imagine it using the forum logins for permissions, and publishing to the list server. Then the list server could present a web UI of the current bzo servers and allow people to follow links to get to them, and on the servers have a link to get back. The whole experience would be web based. bzo servers would need to identify differently. 20:32
TimRikerBZO00001 or something. The list server UI would only show bzo servers by default. Thoughts?20:32
TimRikerI plan to add a server admin web page to bzo to allow uploading and viewing bzw maps and changing server settings, etc.20:34

tuponeThe shots seems not very in sync with the height of the tank, when I jump20:52
TimRikerthe client and server are not predicting movement yet. That should help. I should probably force the client to send all the move data in a shot so server and clients know the exactly where the player was when they shot.20:55
blast007I see it as a separate project.20:58
tuponeYou can test it by falling down and shooting while falling20:58
blast007I don't see why it would even use the same server list.20:59
blast007Cuz it's either just going to be connecting to itself, or connecting to other URLs, which could be at subdirectories instead of different ports.21:03
blast007For the map format, you might also not want to bother with re-implementing the BZFlag format.  I've been working on documenting our format the last few weeks and boy is it a fun format.  :)21:05
BulletCatcherI suggest using a separate bzo repo for now.21:53
BulletCatcherIt isn't hard to merge it (and all commit history) into the bzflag repo if we ever decide to do that.21:53
*** Zehra <Zehra!~Yukari@user/yukari> has joined #bzflag22:01
TimRikerYes, it should be a separate repo, I just meant using the same git organization.23:24
TimRikerI think it will have it's own map format, especially when incompatible things get created. bzw is converted on read. The world dimensions are cut in half, etc. supporting bzw is just a migration path.23:26
TimRikerhiz.bzw has some documentation of the format, but it does not use everything that's available now.23:27
TimRikerif the basic concept is the same, ie: anyone can run a public server, then a list server would be nice, and stats too. fire up a server, it adds itself to a central list server and uses central authentication.23:29
blast007Yeah, I've been going through the code itself.23:29
blast007(to get BZW specs)23:29
